Our Mission Statement

The Blues Music Society of Oklahoma exists to preserve, cultivate, and celebrate the blues, the past, present, and the future. We provide a welcoming space for blues lovers and musicians of all ages and experience levels to come together through live music, monthly jams, workshops, and community events. We commit to education and outreach, especially nurturing the next generation through school programs and hands-on blues training. We strive to build and strengthen a network of blues communities by partnering with regional societies and festivals to connect fans, performers, and supporters. Through our events, festivals, and outreach efforts, we aim to ensure the blues remains a living, breathing art form that is accessible, vibrant, and alive in Oklahoma and beyond.

From hosting live performances by renowned artists to organizing educational workshops and jam sessions, the Blues Society of Oklahoma is a hub for music lovers and aspiring musicians alike. Join us on our journey as we celebrate the soulful melodies and heartfelt lyrics that have moved generations, igniting a deep appreciation for the enduring influence of the blues.

The Blues Society of Oklahoma is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and that changes everything. We can offer memberships, produce standout events, launch our Blues In The Schools program, and build initiatives that go beyond profit, all focused on growing the music, the culture, and the next generation of blues.

The Blues Society of Oklahoma is now an affiliate of the The Blues Foundation in Memphis, the global hub of blues preservation and promotion. Founded in 1980, The Blues Foundation fuels the music at every level, from honoring legends through the Blues Hall of Fame to supporting working artists with grants, education programs, and international exposure.

That connection puts Oklahoma on the map in a bigger way. It strengthens our mission, expands our reach, and gives our artists a direct pipeline to the world stage. We’re now positioned to launch an official Blues Challenge in spring or summer 2027, with our top performers earning the chance to represent Oklahoma at the legendary International Blues Challenge in January 2028, where the next generation of blues stars is born.
